I think you’ve hit the nail on the head here. Tweaking an origin by simply adding some cool effects/gadgets/backstory…whathaveyou does not merit a full movie (nor a sequel for that matter). But, as always, I’ll end up watching it in complete befuddlement as to what my life has come to.
I wonder if pity is still “In” these days?

Oh God, not another fracking origin story, particularly for a character whose origin is only slightly less obscure than Superman’s.
