I actually recognized this idea while watching the movie and felt like it was doing the audience a disservice. The movie tried to be too much at once. I felt like it would have worked better as two films instead of one. It reminded me of the way I felt about Spiderman 3. I also hated the fact that the movie was more concentrated on action/adventure, and lacked in the “super-grim, real world” scenes that made the first two movies so great. Just my opinion though.

I for one hope that the next Batman movie focuses more on the superhero action and adventure side of Batman, and not the super-grim, real world side.

I feel that the reason Amazing was only decent and not epic was because simply put it’s a story (sans the Lizard angle) I’ve known my entire life. Ho hum, it’s radioactive spider bite time. They should have done that part a la the Norton Hulk flick. Ten minutes of flashbacks for the “here’s the origin of my powers that everyone knows” bit, the proceed to rock on with some real story.
