So true. Sometimes it seems like they can’t stick with a plan for a month, let alone a year.

Plus, killing off a well loved character is a surefire way to make them into internet fan favorites.

  3. Tom

‘Well loved”. By hundreds of people who don’t even read the comic he’s in. Because that’s what matters: comics sold. Babies.

Ya know, is Cyborg really an A-lister now? Because he may be on the league, but he’s gotten virtually no development, no enemies or any Cyborg related plots. He only seems to be part of the league because he never leaves their freakin’ base.

Every panel of this comic is gold.

Heh . . . Didio and Johns gargle Hal’s balls like Jeff Probst on alpha males. Hal was great in GLTAS, but yeah . . . I miss the days where Kyle was the only GL around. Let’s hope they don’t remember Kyle is half-Hispanic . . . at least according to GL(v3) #150. Then he might be screwed.

Also: Fuck Didio for killing off Ryan Choi.

I’m still at a loss as to why it was necessary to bring Hal Jordan back.

    word.

Also its a good thing they are going to be expanding the league, that way there will be even more characters to share the spot light and be developed since they’ve done such a bang up job of that.

Also, playing the devil’s advocate here, but does it really strain credibility that DC would scuttle one character for the sake of their preferred character?

I mean, look at Wally West, Cassandra Cain and Steph Brown and that’s just off the top of my head. All were successful to one degree or another, and now writers can’t even mention them by name in any books.

“Also, playing the devil’s advocate here, but does it really strain credibility that DC would scuttle one character for the sake of their preferred character?”

Well, it does and it doesn’t. I totally buy that they occasionally do away with some characters in the interest of strengthening the perceived brand of another, I just don’t think that there’s anything personal about it, or that it’s plotted so maliciously.

(The possible exception being Stephanie Brown, who DC seems to be waging total war on via a series of editorial edicts that at first just seemed petty but soon reached the level of hilariously confusing. I’m not even going to attempt to speculate on the reason for that particular wild hair up their ass.)

Ryan Reynolds would have made a great Kyle.

  12. Sean Whitmore

He’s had practice; he basically played Kyle already.

Love this strip. Love it. One of the gems of the site.

Did they really kill off John Stewart? Aww. He’s my favorite Lantern.

  15. Brandon Hanvey

    @JelloKZ

That was a rumor. Joshua Hale Fialkov was the writer DC hired to take over writing Green Lantern Corps and then left even before the 1st issue. He stated that he had editorial differences with DC which some reported was that it was because DC wanted to Jon Stewart. Then later DC said they were not.

  16. William

Sure, John gets this, but Cassandra Cain? Sentenced to Comic Book Limbo.

  17. JaneDoe

That was really funny. Well done guys!
John Stewart is like Samuel L. Jackson — everybody wants to see him and no substitute will do. You’d think DC would get that by now.
BTW, it’s no longer a rumor. Joshua Hale Fialkov did confirm that DC wanted to kill John Stewart.
