AvX Vs. is actually, you know, fun. It's not trying to be heavy or deep or profound at all. When I read the first issue, I realized how long it had been since I'd actually read a new comic that was just light fun and how much I'd missed that. Also, Jason's comments about Moore were not just about Moore being critical of the comics industry--it was because Moore was basically being insulting toward so many people whose work he hadn't even read. I love Moore and I'm even one of those anti-Before Watchmen folks, but I thought that was a bit nasty. Um… AvX Vs. is actually, you know, fun. It’s not trying to be heavy or deep or profound at all. When I read the first issue, I realized how long it had been since I’d actually read a new comic that was just light fun and how much I’d missed that.

Also, Jason’s comments about Moore were not just about Moore being critical of the comics industry–it was because Moore was basically being insulting toward so many people whose work he hadn’t even read. I love Moore and I’m even one of those anti-Before Watchmen folks, but I thought that was a bit nasty.

I dunno). Anyways, the thing is, some of them are good, actually (like the Spidey vs Colossus one by Gillen). As Bob said before me, Marvel should just sell them as 12 issue stories for less money instead of as a full priced comic about fights. It's resulting in backlash from both ends, but at the same time, at least they're doing it in a way that leaves the central story alone. My only issue with the AvX:Versus book is that it's a full-priced comic. If Marvel did the smart thing and offered it as a 99-cent peripheral to the main book, would anyone be complaining (well, probably... this is the internet after all.)
