Sorry to say, but I’ve always gotten that “the trailer is the best part of the movie” vibe when I saw the previews in the theaters. Maybe I’ll netflick it one day.

Been in Josh’s position many times, myself. Even though it’s fighting the current, I’m still rooting for him to ACTUALLY elicit some sort of surprised expression from Marissa. Go get ‘im, Josh, you’re the best!

Scott Pilgrim was pretty epic dudes. I’d probably say it was one of the most enjoyable movies I’ve seen in a long time (not counting Toy Story 3 because I was BAWLING MY EYES OUT). But yeah, everyone should give it a chance, Edgar Wright is a fantastic director.

Just because a comic book movie is good doesn’t mean that the original comic is any good. Kick-Ass anyone?
I haven’t read Scott Pilgrim though yet. I might one day. The artwork doesn’t look particularly exciting.

I like the Scott Pilgrim comic books, but I haven’t seen the movie and for some reason I’m not enthusiastic about it. This is one of those “love it or hate it” movies, it seems, and I am kind of really, really tired of Michael Cera.
Only time will tell, since the movie hasn’t even been released in my country.

@MrGBH: are you saying that the movie is better than the comic? have you read the comic? it is AWESOME. The movie is only pretty good. the movie is to optimistic (come on, the nerd who pretends to be gay gets the girl?). the comic is much more realistic and, therefore, amuzing and entertaining.

I love it when people argue that unrealistic crap is ‘realistic’ because it’d dark and depressing.

@Linda: i’m not saying that the kick ass comic is realistic because it’s dark and depressing. i’m saying it’s realistic because people act like people: if someone as lied to you about their sexuallity in order to be close to you, when you discover the truth you don’t get all happy and lovely; you get pissed. and have you ever read kick ass? it’s anything but depressing

I gotta say, I didn’t like how the Kick-Ass relationship was handled in the comic or the movie. The former was slit-your-wrist nihilistic and the latter was ultra-creepy for the sake of a happy ending.

@Sean: i’m affraid i’ve got to agree with you :$. but the point i was trying to make is that, using the premise of superheroes in the real world, the comic is better than the movie.

@Linkara: i wouldn’t say WOTHLESS. i still like to see people acting like real people. you know, with understandable reactions to their environment. but i think i know what you mean. ps: big fan of your work, please never stop… and please do a ultimatum review.

@B: It was drawn by John Romita Jr. Back in the eighties he was one of the best artists around. Everyone else got better, he got worse.
I also dislike Mark Miller’s style. He can come up with some great ideas, it’s just his execution, his character interactions and his climactic finales that suck. So everything except his ideas.
So a story written by my least favourite ‘artist’ and a non-impressive writer just didn’t do it for me.

The first time I saw the Scott Pilgrim movie I thought that everything was great.
The second time I saw it I thought everything was good, and Young Neil was great.
Moral of the story: Young Neil.

I wore my “The Book Was Better” t-shirt and after thought the shirt was wrong. They are almost equal.
Shocking, since the shirt has always been right before.
