Mjolnir Dollar Baby

Friday, May 13th, 2011

(Other possible names for this post from Twitter: “Asgard as it Gets”, “Fear and Loki in Las Vegas”, and “How Stella Götterdämmerung Back”.)

As anyone who’s been paying attention can see, we’ve got a slew of comic book movies this year. From the obvious (X-Men: First Class, Captain America, Green Lantern) to the less obvious (Dylan Dog, Priest), to the debatable (Green Hornet, Conan the Barbarian). And we can’t tackle everything worth saying about them in the comic, so we turn to our often forgotten blog section! More thoughts (but no spoilers) behind the jump.

Watch the Smallville finale with Josh!

Friday, May 13th, 2011

If you’re a fan of Smallville (or even if you’re not) and have a Twitter account (or even if you don’t), have we got Friday night plans for you!

Join esteemed comic critic Josh Sands (@JoshCritic) as he livetweets both hours of tonight’s momentous series finale!

For good or ill (mostly ill, let’s face it), this dopey little show that was once considered “Dawson’s Creek with super powers” has lasted for TEN YEARS and carved out a place for itself in the history of Superman. It’s not a place you may care to visit, but it’s there, and it’s rent-controlled. It practically has tenure.  And for all the moments of pain and the few moments of pleasure it’s brought our illustrious reviewer over the past decade, he’s not going to just let it slip into the sunset quietly.

Starts tonight at 8:00pm, PST. You will believe a man can bitch!

DC Crisis BBS

Friday, July 1st, 2011

Looking around the net at thoughts about DC’s 52 relaunch got me thinking how it might have been like 25 years ago during the Crisis relaunch.

While their weren’t blogs and message boards as we currently know them, there were BBSs (Bulletin Board System).  I got to thinking what one might of been like duringhte Crisis relaunch of 1986. Click on the image for a larger version.

52 Commandments: 1-26

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

If you’ve been following Josh on Twitter…and why wouldn’t you?…you’ll have seen his manifesto about DC’s relaunch unfold over the past few weeks in handy, easily-digestible tweet form. But if you’ve missed any, or just don’t want to go hunting for them, we’re presenting them here in big, one-stop-shopping blog form. (Well, two-stop. This is only the first 26.) The text has been modified just a bit to make it look more conversational and less tweet-like. Also, to include some jokes I wish I’d thought of the first time around.

Enjoy the extended insight into Josh’s world!
