I don’t know what it is, but I’m reading fewer and fewer new comics these days.
A few years ago, I used to read anywhere from three to fives new trades/graphic novels a month. Today, I may read one new comic a month or just read the old stuff I already own.
Maybe I’m just getting picky in my old age, but it seems there are fewer books coming out every month that appeal to me. Sure I eagerly wait for the next Scott Pilgrim, but that is a one time a year thing. I look through Previews each month and see only a handful of books that look interesting.
Or it could be the comic market is catering to other people’s tastes. And that is not the old “I hate manga” mantra. I love manga.I even worked for a manga publisher for a while. But even with all the manga being published, I only find a couple books that I really enjoy.
This doesn’t mean I’m giving up on comics. It just means I’ll keep searching for more new books that I’ll enjoy.
I upgraded the theme of the site to ComicPress 2.5 vertical. I had to recode to get the look back to we want.
The only really thing that’s different, for now, is the comic navigation/title/date is below the comic instead of on top. I may try to change that in the future. There is also a comic nav in the top right of the menu bar.
Let me know if you like the new setup or would like to see anything changed.
Well the comic has been getting some good response. Hopefully we can keep it going and get a fan base eargly waiting for the next comic.
A couple things that will need to be done over the next few days/weeks. I updated to WordPress 2.5 yesterday which makes the site more secure and usable, but it seems that it may have messed up the comic navigation. I may have to update to ComicPress 2.5 which would mean I would have to recode things to get the look back to what we like. So if you see things suddenly change and change back, then you know I’m testing things.
We gave CSBG a preview of the comic which will start next Wendesday.
